Maintain It
Once a new septic system has been installed, care should be taken to keep it in good working order.
You should have a typical septic system inspected at least every two or three years by a professional and your tank pumped as recommended. Alternative systems with electrical float switches, pumps or mechanical components need to be inspected more often.
